About Sandra
A good piece of art isn’t just a pretty picture, it’s a concept- a living and breathing idea conceived and born like a baby. This blog is a tool whereby I use my words and pictures to sink my paintings into a public awareness. I create them from photographs and incorporate abstractions, lyrics, writings etc. into the body of work. You’ll see what’s important to me in the themes: my quasi-Mexican heritage, the southwest, color and form, nature, idolatry etc., inspired by the beautiful people I’ve known, places I’ve been and the music that keeps it movin’. Check out http://blip.fm/tikal to hear that music.
I use some Spanish words in my writings. The syntax is lovingly referred to as Spenglish and it’s part of the Chicano experience, so it comes into play sometimes. I might also use some art terms. You can kinda guess what the words mean, and if you want to know, just hover on the linked words and the translation will pop up. Crafty!
¡Adiosito!
